Description

MabThera

Buy MabThera for patients that have some common forms of leukemia and lymphoma. With the generic name rituximab, this medicine is the first therapeutic monoclonal antibody that has the ability to target cells with the CD20 marker, which are central to many kinds of blood cancers.

Who benefits the most from MabThera

This solution is indicated for many kinds of ailments, and the patients who benefit the most from it are those who had been previously untreated late-stage lymphoma, but it has proven to be effective in many other situations.

Ailments Treated with MabThera

MabThera can be introduced into the body by itself, or as part of a combination treatment with chemotherapy. These are some of the ailments that this infusion is indicated for:

  • Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
  • Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA)
  • Pemphigus vulgaris

How does MabThera work?

The active ingredient in MabThera known as rituximab, is a type of protein called a monoclonal antibody. This is designed to attach to a specific kind of protein called a CD20, which can be found in B lymphocytes. When the CD20 has been attached to, the rituximab causes the death of that particular B lymphocyte, which then in turn helps in ailments such as lymphoma and CLL in particular, wherein the B lymphoma have transformed into being cancerous. It also helps in the kind of rheumatoid arthritis where B lymphocytes are involved in the inflammation of the joint. In both MPA and GPA, killing the B-lymphocytes decreases the production of antibodies that are thought to be integral in attacking the blood vessels causing the inflammation.

Treatment Details

At first, MabThera is introduced into the body via infusion drip into a vein. Patients that have blood cancers can change over to an injection given subcutaneously once they have already received one full dose of the solution. Prior to injection or infusion though, the patient is given an antihistamine and an anti-pyretic. It should also be noted that when the medicine is given, it should be under close supervision of healthcare professionals in an environment that is ready to act at a moment’s notice, in cases resuscitation is needed.

How long does MabThera last?

MabThera usually takes around 2 to 6 weeks to see the effects. Rituximab itself does not cure the condition, and patients might still need to continue taking the treatment for years in order to control any possible relapses.

Safety Information

Patients with hypersensitivities to any of MabThera’s components should avoid it. Those who are in a severely immunocompromised state should also be advised against using this. It is also advised that women who have the potential to bear children should use effective contraceptives during and 12 months following the treatment because of its long retention time. Breastfeeding mothers should also not use this medicine.

Other Side Effects

Most common side effects of MabThera are fever, chills, and shivering. Serious effects include those related to the heart. If MabThera is injected under the skin, more common symptoms are swelling, pain, and rashes. For more complete side effects, please refer to package leaflet.

Recovery Time

The solution does provide up to 6 months of symptom improvement from a single course, meaning 2 infusions given two weeks apart.

Cost of MabThera

The average cost of the 500mg concentrate is around $1096.

Bottom line

MabThera has been approved for use because most medical professionals agree that its benefits far outweigh the risks. Studies have shown that out of 322 patients, those who used chemotherapy alone lived for around 6 months without the disease coming back, compared to those who used MabThera alongside chemotherapy who enjoyed 26 months without the disease.
