How does Simponi work?
The active ingredient in Simponi known as golimumab, and it is a monoclonal antibody. It is a kind of protein which has been specifically developed to recognize and connect itself to a specific structure called an antigen, found inside the body. Simponi was particularly designed to attach to and block called tumor necrosis factor alpha, also known as TNF-a. This substance is part of what’s causing the inflammation, and is actually found in quite large amounts in patients that have the ailments this medicine is supposed to treat. By blocking the TNF-a, this treatment significantly reduced inflammation, as well as other symptoms of those aforementioned diseases.
